What do you want to do?
Replace the skybox

Untested. Swap the sky images above the map for your own art and pack them as a VPK. Lighting and fog stay as they are.
Custom mouse cursors
Beginner
Replace the cursor files in the game folder with your own image. No modding tools needed.
Custom chat wheel
Intermediate
Untested. Add custom chat wheel menus and extra voice commands. Build them in ChatLane, a free community tool, and install the VPK it makes.
Play custom maps
Beginner
Try a community map, like a movement training map, on your own. Put it in
the maps folder and load it from the console.
